Hidden Side Projects

So, this page is dedicated to:

  • Projects I find to be too minor to put in my big boy projects folder

  • Projects I've found to be failures/I don't want my image attatched to

  • Very off the beaten trail projects that don't fit any theme on the site

Mercy was a fashion brand created based on the idea of blood and professionalism.

What did I do for this project?

For Mercy I had a simple role:

Make the design for the logo that would go on the shirts

I didn't have much experience in graphic design at the time, and instead used some of my product design process to create several pages of possible designs, throwing any and every thought I had into a sketchbook.

I sent all my ideas over to the client and from there they selected one or two they liked, and I'd iterate further (which you'll see in the digitised designs above)

Why is it a hidden project?

Frankly, I don't like my process and the overall back and forth between the client. They were very set on their idea of a logo, and as a designer I wanted to get across my ideas but they weren't ever taken seriously or even considered. A client that's not malleable is hard to work with.

The final design I tried to make look professional and as polished as I possibly could, but I'm still not happy with the overall result.

I thought different ideas I had were much better suited to a fashion brand but our ideas conflicted, and since I was being paid to just get a design out I followed what they said and produced what they had in their mind.
